time management

NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2011 Energy & Time

School has been back in session, the weather has turned again. The northern hemisphere is feeling the cold. The southern hemisphere is feeling the heat. Managing your time can feel very difficult and frustrating in extreme weather. Rather than thoughts of time management, let’s see how to budget our energy so that our time feels more productive.

In fact, when we talk of “time management”, these days do we actually mean ‘energy management’? We all have 24 hours per day. The question is: how do we use them? Are we doing things that other people require of us? If we earn our living, then often (not always) the answer is yes. What else do we do? We do family things, household things……

Everything we do takes time and energy. How can we invest our time that would give us additional energy and thus make time more enjoyable for us? When we are feeling good and productive, our energy levels increase. Our productivity makes us feel as though we are spending time wisely.

Monthly Tip

What one thing can you do over the next month that makes you feel positive, something YOU want to do, that gives you energy? Give yourself the time for this activity and see what a difference this makes to your sense of wellbeing and time management. Do it in small increments, to a kitchen timer, or take a few hours! The important thing is that you WANT to do it!

Monthly Quote

“Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Louis Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." —H. Jackson Brown
